Clearstone resin bound: transforming concrete chaos to pristine perfection

Project Brief:

Homeowner Christine Best had worked really hard on refurbishing the inside of her 1976 neo-Georgian home and was delighted with the results. But every time she approached the drive, her heart sank.

“The original concrete drive was crumbling, with patches of different coloured concrete, dips where water puddled and four ugly manhole covers. It was horrible.”

Christine wanted a sleek, smooth surface that she insisted should be permeable so that rainwater could drain back to the water table.

Project Solution:

Clearstone’s groundworks partners Battens removed the original concrete and installed permeable asphalt.

This asphalt base has gases that need to evaporate so the base was left for two weeks to ‘cure’. Otherwise the gases can rise to the surface creating bubbles in the newly laid resin bound paving.

Project Conclusion:

“Both Battens ground workers and the Clearstone team were brilliant,” says Christine. “They parked sensibly, worked quickly and tidied up after themselves.”

“And, when my cat walked over the newly-laid resin bound just as they’d all got into the van to drive home, they didn’t hesitate. Out they jumped and smoothed it over again.”
